Parkin is a Senior Research Analyst in the Security and Extremism Research Program at RTI International. His research interests include terrorism, domestic extremism, and ideologically motivated violence; climate change and domestic security issues; public safety community-based initiatives and policies; violent victimization; and utilizing agent-based modeling to examine violent targeted attacks. Prior to working at RTI International he was an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice, Criminology & Forensics at Seattle University.Elise M. Roberts-Ingleson was a Research Analyst in the Security and Extremism Research Program at RTI International when contributing to this article. Her research interests center on political violence and extremism, grievance-based violence, governance, misinformation, and the drivers of extremism. She has conducted theoretical and applied research, which has been published in a range of academic and practitioner-focused outlets. Dr. Roberts-Ingleson also has experience with policy implementation at the federal level.Matthew DeMichele is a Senior Research Sociologist in RTI’s Justice Practice Area. He is the Director of the Center for Criminal Legal Systems Research and has conducted criminal justice research on correctional population trends, risk prediction, terrorism/extremism prevention, and program evaluation. He has worked with local, state, and federal agencies, and philanthropic partners to conduct research to address complex policy issues. His research has recently been published in several outlets that includes Crime & Delinquency, American Sociological Review, and Criminology & Public Policy.Noël M. Corder is a Research Analyst in the Security and Extremism Research Program at RTI International, where she focuses on security threats, extremism, and violence prevention. She has over 8 years of experience working as a practitioner in corrections, courts, and behavioral health. Ms. Corder is currently involved with the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Evaluation of Soft Target Security and Prevention project and Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention program evaluation.
