“Framing” contentious activism: a sociological analysis of Boko Haram’s ideology, through its discourse (2008 – 2016)

He is a Senior Lecturer in Counterterrorism Studies at the CSTPV, University of St Andrews and a Visiting Professor at Boston University. He previously taught at the University of Leicester and King’s College London’s War Studies Department, where he earned his PhD. He has published books on the Nigerian military, Boko Haram’s insurgency and the Nigeria Police Force. A fourth monograph, Picking Sides, with Oxford University Press and Hurst, is forthcoming.Areej Al Khathlan is currently a PhD candidate at the Handa CSTPV, University of St. Andrews. Her research focuses on Rehabilitation Programs for terrorist offenders.
