He studied hazing and masculinities on his PhD dissertation. In his master degree, he examined (im)possibilities of social upward mobility in football. His specific research areas are abuse, hazing, hegemonic masculinity, social class and gender in sport.F. Hülya Aşçı is professor and she works at Sport Sciences Faculty of Fenerbahçe University. She mainly studies physical self-perception and psychological effects of physical activity on psychological well-being. She has papers published in refereed international journals such as Psychology of Sport and Exercise (PSE) & Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology. She is also associate editor in PSE.Dr. İlknur Hacısoftaoğlu assistant professor and she works at Department of Sport Management, at Istanbul Bilgi University. She completed her undergraduate degree at department of Sociology, Middle East Technical University. She is one of the editors of the book: Beyond the game: Sociology of Sports Studies. Hacısoftaoğlu, who has publications in the field of gender and sports, continues her work in the fields of women, masculinity and spectatorship in sports.
