Managing the Stigma of Encountering a Ghost
Daniel G. Renfrow Wells College, Union Springs, NY, USADaniel G. Renfrow is Associate Professor of Sociology Emeritus at Wells College. His scholarship examines young people’s identity projects, or the ways individuals construct, manage, and present public versions of the self in everyday life. His empirical research explores how young people make sense of and manage socially risky behaviors, such as passing and sexting, as well as socially risky contexts, such as sports tragedies. His work has appeared in Symbolic Interaction, Deviant Behavior, Sociology of Sport Journal, Fat Studies, Appalachian Journal, and several handbooks. He is co-author, with Jocelyn A. Hollander and Judith A. Howard, of Gendered Situations, Gendered Selves: A Gender Lens on Social Psychology.
