His research is on terrorism and political violence, with a focus on ideology.Lorne L. Dawson is Distinguished Professor Emeritus in the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Waterloo. He has published three books, six edited books, and 97 academic articles and book chapters. Most of his recent research has been about the role of religiosity in religious terrorism and the social ecology of Western jihadist radicalization.
