Dr. Gauthier obtained her PhD in Sociology from Washington State University. She has published articles on an analysis of hate crimes in the transgender community and the predictors of perceptions of police with a particular focus of the role of media in shaping these perceptions.Nicole Smolter has experience in offender reentry, domestic violence, and program evaluation. She earned her Master’s degree at American University and completed additional graduate studies at the University of Delaware in Criminology and Sociology. She teaches various classes, including Correctional Systems, Research Methods, Statistics, and Criminological Theory.
