Burton is an assistant professor in the Criminology and Criminal Justice Program at The University of Texas at Dallas. His current research focuses on the recruitment, training, and retention of corrections officers, and public opinion toward criminal justice policies. His recent work has appeared in Criminology, Justice Quarterly, and Journal of Research in Crime and Delinquency.Damon M. Petrich is an assistant professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Loyola University Chicago. His research focuses on correctional program evaluation and developmental/life-course issues such as desistance from crime, exposure to community violence, and self-regulation.
