Most broadly, his research explores the emotional processing associated with adverse experiences across the life course, including parental incarceration, contact with the criminal legal system, and social mobility. Her areas of research include immigration, the criminal justice system, health, and life course.Egbert Zavala is an Associate Professor and current Chair of the Department of Criminal Justice and Security Studies at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where he has been since receiving his PhD in sociology from Kansas State University. His area of research includes intimate partner violence, family violence, dating violence, and deviance.
