Her research focuses on migration, informal economies, and socio-spatial inequalities, with particular emphasis on Chinese migrant communities in the UK. Her work combines qualitative and quantitative approaches to examine how structural constraints shape migrants’ economic participation and social positioning.Bayes Ahmed is an Associate Professor in the Department of Risk and Disaster Reduction at University College London (UCL). His research spans disaster risk reduction, conflict and migration, genocide diplomacy, climate mobility, and Hydrocide. He is particularly committed to working with frontline communities to understand their complex challenges and co-develop actionable, context-specific policy recommendations that respond to their needs.
