Crowl is an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice and assistant chair of the Department of Anthropology, Criminal Justice and Sociology at Commonwealth University. He received his PhD in Criminology from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His primary research interests include police-community relations, police legitimacy and procedural justice, fear of crime, student safety, pedagogy and course design. His research appears in The Police Journal: Theory Practice & Principles, Police Practice & Research and Crime Prevention & Community Safety. He is a member of the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, the American Society of Criminology and the Northeastern Association of Criminal Justice Sciences.
